The Alva ( Portuguese Rio Alva ) is a left (southern) tributary of the Mondego in the region of central Portugal . He is from the dam Fronhas (a reservoir Portuguese Albufeira da Barragem de Fronhas ) dammed. The Alva flows into the Mondego about three kilometers above the small town of Penacova .
