Alverich von Mehringen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alverich (Latin Alvericus ; † after 1162) was a knight of Mehringen from the family of the Counts of Jabilinze .

Life

Alverich was a son of knight Gottschalk von Gabelizo and possibly a descendant of the Counts of Plötzkau (on the mother's side?). His brothers Siegfried and Baderich were Counts of Jabilinze, the latter also Burgrave of Brandenburg.

Alverich was first mentioned in 1142 as miles Alvericus de Meringe ( Knight Alverich von Mehringen ) next to his brother Baderich when he transferred the church from Salbke to the monastery of Our Dear Women in Magdeburg , probably from his parents' inheritance. This was the first documented evidence of the family's possession. He was the first and only member of the family who named himself after Mehringen bei Aschersleben, but did not have the title of count.

Alverich was named as a witness by Albrecht the Bear in five other documents until 1162. Descendants are not known. It is questionable whether Eico von Mehringen (mentioned in 1120) was a relative
