Counts of Jabilinze and Belzig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Counts of Jabilinze and Belzig were a noble family on the middle Elbe and the lower Saale in the 12th and 13th centuries.

history

The knight Gottschalk was first mentioned in 1106, around 1110 with the addition of de Gabelizo . His son Baderich was first referred to as Count von Gabelincze in 1155 , from 1156 also von Dornburg an der Elbe, and then in 1160 as the first burgrave of Brandenburg. His son Siegfried was called Count von Belzig since 1201 .

After 1236 Baderich von Belzig lost the burgrave office of Brandenburg and was mentioned for the last time in 1251. With that, the family in the male tribe was probably extinct.
