Amílcar Vásques Días

Amílcar Vásques Días (born March 7, 1945 in Badim ) is a Portuguese composer and pianist .

Vásques Días studied piano and composition from 1967 at the Conservatories of Oporto and Braga . From 1974 to 1981 he studied composition with Louis Andriessen , Peter Schat and Jan van Vlijmen and electro-acoustic music with Dick Raaijmakers and Gilius van Bergeijk at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag .

He composed in different genres; his music has been performed at festivals such as June in Buffalo (USA), Cantigas do Maio (Seixal, Portugal), the Astrakhan Chamber Music Festival of Astrakhan, the Manchester Music Festival and the Capuchos Music Festival and the Sao Paulo Festival. It was released on phonograms by Orkest De Volharding , but also by Nancy Lee Harper and himself.

In addition to his activities as a pianist and composer, Vásques Días taught as a music professor at the University of Évora between 1996 and 2010 .
