Am-hehu
ˁm-ḥḥw
devourer of the millions of shadow devourers

Am-hehu (also Am-heh or Am-schut ) is an ancient Egyptian god from the text collection of the Egyptian Book of the Dead . In this important documentation of Egyptian mythology , he is portrayed as one of 43 judge deities of the judgment of the dead who judged the dead in the Hall of Complete Truth . According to the naming of the judges of the dead, especially in the 125th verse of the dead book, he is also called The Judges of the Dead .

Under the presiding judge Osiris , Am-hehu was responsible as an associate judge for punishing the crimes of theft , robbery, murder and greed . That is why he was first called under his individual name, Shadow Devourer , and later, in Greco-Roman times , appropriately referred to as the devourer of the millions . Another nickname was The One from the Pit .
