Richard H. Wilkinson

Richard Herbert Wilkinson (* 1951 in England ) is an American Egyptologist .

Richard H. Wilkinson attended school in Harrogate and initially studied at the University of Leeds . In the USA he studied Egyptology and Near Eastern Antiquity at the University of Minnesota , u. a. at Otto Schaden . In 1984 he received his MA with the thesis The Horous names, the srh, and the circuit of the walls in ancient Egyptian kingship ideology and received his doctorate in 1986 with the dissertation Mesopotamian Coronation and Accession Rites in the Neo-Sumerian and Early Old-Babylonian Periods C. 2100–1800 BC He taught until his retirement in 2013 as a professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson .

Richard H. Wilkinson is mainly active as an archaeologist in Egypt, especially since 1989 in the Valley of the Kings . Since 2004 he has been investigating the grave temple of Queen Tausret in West Thebes . Another of his main research interests is the exploration of Egypt's relations with neighboring regions.
