The list of judge deities of the Judgment of the Dead in the Egyptian Book of the Dead includes the 42 assessor deities of the Judgment of the Dead at the beginning of the New Kingdom , before whom the deceased in the Egyptian Book of the Dead in the Hall of Complete Truth has to affirm his purity through the " negative confession of guilt ". Osiris presided as the 43rd judge.
