Ra setjau R3 sṯ3w field of Treidelns / Country Sokar , who is on his sand |
Ra-setjau (also Rosetau ) is the ancient Egyptian name of a region in the Duat . The Amduat reports on Ra-setjau in connection with the sun god Re , who in the 4th and 5th hour of the night has to cross a desert landscape in his solar barge in a very weakened state .
Ra-setjau, also known as "the land of Sokar , who is on its sand", is home to numerous snakes and at the same time a region of desert and fire, which repeatedly blocks the path of the sun god. Since the sun barge has left the water channel and has to be pulled, the stern rudder turns into a snake that clears the route with its breath of fire.
