Letopolis (also Letopolis-magna / megale , ancient Egyptian Sechem, Chem ; demotic Sechem-Hes-ay ; Latin Letus ) is the Greek name of the ancient Egyptian capital of the second Lower Egyptian district Chepesch ; today's Ausim . The place is about 13 kilometers northwest of Cairo in the Governorate of Al-Qalyubiyya .
The main god of Letopolis, Cherti , owned a temple there, but it was not found. Various fragments of the temple bear inscriptions from Necho II , Psammetich II , Hakoris and Nektanebos I. In Letopolis, fragments of the well-known Naos of the Decades ( juice el-Henna ) with astrological inscriptions relating to 36 decades and valuable information were found included to the Egyptian calendar .
