The villa colony Am Priel-Hof is located in Munich 's Bogenhausen- Priel district. This villa colony should not be confused with the garden city of Bogenhausen-Priel .

location

The villa colony Am Priel-Hof is crossed by Effnerstraße and bordered by Englschalkinger Straße and Oberföhringer Straße (previously: Ismaninger Hauptstraße). The complex consists of Normannen-, Rudlieb-, Frithjof-, Ortnit-, Odin-, Asgard- and Muspelheimstraße, so that "Normannen-Siedlung" was suggested as a name for the complex.

history

The villa colony was built from 1934 in the Priel district of the same name in Bogenhausen. It was named after the street stop (restaurant) “Priel-Hof”, which stood on Ismaninger Hauptstraße (today: Oberföhringer Straße 42) until it was demolished in 1960. The name of the inn again referred to an old Bogenhausen farm, the Prielhof (comparable to the Prielhof of the Scheyern Monastery), which was already occupied in 1288/1304, as well as the Priel forest and the street “Am Priel”. The topping-out ceremony for the first three villas took place in September 1934.

The architect Emil Wolf created the division plan for the villa colony, which divided the area of almost 123,000 m² (36 days ) into 126 parcels , which had an average size of around 600 m². Detached one and two-family houses with a ground floor and first floor were planned for the development . In addition, there was no fixed architectural scheme for the villas that were to be built here. This meant that the future villa owners were largely free to choose how they wanted to build - but the overall supervision of the villa colony was with the architect Emil Wolf.
