At the Wienerberg
Am Wienerberg is a municipal residential complex of the municipality of Vienna , which was built from 1925 to 1927 according to plans by the architects Rudolf Perco , Rudolf Frass , Karl Dorfmeister , Camillo Fritz Discher and Paul Gütl at Wienerbergstrasse 16-20 in Vienna- Meidling .
Building description
The residential complex on Wienerbergstrasse is enclosed by Cothmanstrasse, Unter-Meidlinger Strasse and Pirkebnerstrasse. It offers space for 769 apartments on 42 stairs. It is a social housing of the Red Vienna between the wars.
The older component at Wienerbergstrasse 16 was made by Rudolf Perco , Rudolf Frass and Karl Dorfmeister . It is a U-shaped courtyard open to the street, which is divided by long balconies and in the middle of which there is a kindergarten with two sculptures depicting children playing with animals. Behind it is a closed courtyard with interesting staircases.
Next door is the younger part, which was made by Camillo Fritz Discher and Paul Gütl . Compared to the older part, it falls somewhat artistically and appears cramped due to its high degree of construction.
The facade of the house block is kept in white color and lively structured by numerous bay windows, gables, balconies and loggias. The complex, the architects of which were all Otto Wagner's students , offers a more traditional, romantic picture.
