history

Amada was founded on September 10, 1946 by Isamu Amada as a tool processing and manufacturing company in Toshima and expanded rapidly in the favorable economic climate of the post-war period. In the course of the following years, the production of band saw machines (1955), turret punching machines (1972) and laser cutting machines (1980) began at the Japanese production sites, but was also able to establish numerous subsidiaries in other countries. Specifically, these were US AMADA Ltd. for the manufacture of CNC punching machines in the USA in 1971, AMADA UK in England 1972, AMADA GmbH for the sale of band saw machines and band saw blades in Europe based in Germany in 1973, AMADA SA in France in 1985 and AMADA Austria GmbH for the production of band saw blades and press brake tools in Austria 1986.

After the takeover of the distribution of Promecam press brakes in Asia in 1965, Promecam was taken over entirely by AMADA Europe SA in France in 1986 . From the 1980s onwards, Amada founded numerous international sales branches for its own products: AMADA Taiwan, Inc. 1984, AMADA Canada, Ltd. 1987, AMADA Cutting Technologies, Inc. in the USA 1987, AMADA Singapore (1989) Pte Ltd. 1989, AMADA Hong Kong Co., Ltd. 1994, AMADA (Thailand) Co., Ltd. 1995, AMADA (Malaysia) Sdn.Bhd. 1996, AMADA (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. 1996, AMADA Oceania Pty. Ltd. in Australia 1998, AMADA India PVT. LTD. 2000, AMADA International Trading (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd 2001 and AMADA OOO in Russia 2003.

With the establishment of the AMADA Laser America Co., Ltd. in the USA in 1999 the company opened the new field of laser technology , which has since been expanded significantly. In 2007, a research and production center specializing in laser technology was opened in Fujinoyma (Japan). In 2009, with the AMADA Solution Center Haan, the location in Haan was expanded by an important department of AMADA Machine Tools . In 2013 the AMADA Technical Center Landshut was opened, which serves research and development as well as customer contact. In 2013, Amada also acquired the Miyachi Corporation . Amada operates in a total of 43 locations.
