Amadou Colley

Amadou Colley (* 10. October 1962 in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe ) is an economist and former Central Bank - Governor in the West African country Gambia .

Life

Colley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone University in June 1988. From 1997 to 1999 he received his Masters of Business Administration in International Banking and Finance from Birmingham Business School in the UK .

Colley worked for the Gambia Commercial and Development Bank until 1985. From 1989 he was an auditor in the National Audit Office .

From 1992 he worked at the Central Bank of Gambia , from 2005 as Assistant Director and from 2006 as Director of Banking Department . With effect from December 3, 2010, he was appointed Governor of the Central Bank to succeed Momodou Bamba Saho . He held this post until May 8, 2017.

In September 2019, the results of the Janneh Commission , a committee of inquiry set up by President Adama Barrow to investigate the financial activities of former President Yahya Jammeh , were published.
