The Central Bank of The Gambia ( English Central Bank of The Gambia, CBG ) is the national central bank of the West African country Gambia , based in the capital Banjul and was founded 1971st

It is the sole publisher of the Gambian currency Dalasi , of which it issued revised banknotes with new security features in 2006.

history

Until July 2007, Famara Jatta was governor of the central bank. Jatta resigned because he criticized President Yahya Jammeh's growing influence on central bank policy. Momodou Bamba Saho was appointed as his successor in July 2007 and was replaced by Amadou Colley in December 2010 .

In May 2017, Colley was dismissed as governor and two of his deputies, and Bakary Jammeh was appointed as the new governor.

The central bank building is on Ecowas Avenue and is the second tallest structure in the city after Arch 22 .
