Amalberga from Susteren

Amalberga Susteren (also: Amalberg , Amalberge , Alma ; † about 900 ) was a Benedictine and the first abbess of the Abbey Susteren , in between Sittard and Roermond in today's Dutch province of Limburg situated place Susteren . Of the abbey buildings, only the abbey church that is dedicated to it remains.

It should not be confused with Amalberga from Gent or Amalberga from Maubeuge .

Remembrance day

Her remains are in the former abbey church, which was awarded the title of minor basilica on September 6, 2007 . Their festival is celebrated on November 21st.
