Amalie Esperstedt

Amalie Esperstedt , née Amalie Hudemann (* 1785 in Bernau near Berlin ; † February 25, 1861 in Berlin ) was a German theater actress .

Life

The daughter of a businessman was trained by August Wilhelm Iffland , who soon recognized her talent for comedy. Esperstedt took the stage in Berlin in 1810, in “The Discovery” and was so popular in this performance as in “Entführung” that she was immediately engaged for the Royal Stage, of which she was a popular member until her retirement in 1843.

In the beginning of her activity she proved herself in the soubrette subject and in lively roles in comedy, later it was her achievements in the comic subject in which she excelled in the most advantageous manner.

She died just one day after the death of her husband Johann Friedrich Esperstedt , with whom she had been married since 1813.
