Amanda Peterson

Phyllis Amanda Peterson (born July 8, 1971 in Greeley , Colorado ; † July 3, 2015 there ) was an American actress . Her best-known role was as Cindy Mancini in the 1987 film Can't Buy Me Love .

Life

Career

Amanda Peterson had a few minor television roles early in her career, including the series Father Murphy and Silver Spoons . In 1982, she starred in the film adaptation of Annie before starring in 1984 as the female lead in Explorers .

In addition to Richard Kiley , Peterson was seen as his granddaughter Sunny in the 1987 television series A Year in the Life , which, however, was canceled after one season due to low ratings . In the same year, Peterson achieved cult status alongside Patrick Dempsey as lovers in the teenage film Can't Buy Me Love .

Peterson then made a few more films, but they could not connect to the success of Can't Buy Me Love . In 1995 she retired from acting.

Amanda Peterson was found dead at her home on July 5, 2015, after her family had not heard from her since July 3. The cause of death was an overdose of various drugs. She has been married twice and has two children.
