Amanda Root

Amanda Root (born 1963 in Essex , England ) is a British actress .

Life and accomplishments

Root graduated from Webber Douglas' acting school, which is considered elitist. She made her debut in the 1985 television film This Lightning Always Strikes Twice . In 1987 she became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company , where she appeared in numerous plays over the next five years. In the later years there were further theater appearances on the stages of the London Oxford Stage Company (1999) and the Almeida Theater (2000).

In the television film A Man Comes Home (1993), Root played one of the bigger roles alongside Ciarán Hinds . In the film drama Jane Austen's Seduction (1995) she played one of the leading roles alongside Ciarán Hinds. In the film drama Jane Eyre (1996) directed by Franco Zeffirelli , she appeared on the side of Charlotte Gainsbourg . In the television drama Love Again (2003) she played one of the bigger roles alongside Tara Fitzgerald .
