The Amargosa River is a periodic river approximately 320 km long in the border region of Nevada and California in the United States of America . The name of the river means “bitter” in Spanish .
In the southern part of the Great Basin at the transition to the Mojave Desert area, the river flows temporarily from the heights of the north-west of Las Vegas ( Nevada located) desert region in the Californian Death Valley ( Death Valley ), where he eventually seeps into the sand. Apart from a small section of the Amargosa Gorge in California , the Amargosa River only carries water after one of the rare large floods of rain.
