Amaro Soares Bittencourt

Amaro Soares Bittencourt ( June 30, 1885 - April 13, 1963 ) was a Brazilian major general .

Life

Bittencourt completed an officer training in the army ( Exército Brasileiro ) of the armed forces (Forças Armadas do Brasil) and subsequently found various posts as an officer and staff officer. After his promotion to lieutenant colonel on April 30, 1931, he was commander of the 2nd Ponton Battalion from July 12, 1935 to January 8, 1936,  and as such was promoted to colonel on December 26, 1935 . After his promotion to Brigadier General on February 10, 1939, he was in command of the 9th Military Region (9th Região Militar) between 1939 and 1940 and later from 1941 to October 24, 1942Military attaché at the embassy in the United States and also in 1942 a member of the Brazilian delegation to the Inter-American Defense Board ( Inter-American Defense Board ) . On January 2, 1943, he became the head of the engineering department in the War Ministry and was promoted to major general on April 2, 1945 . Most recently in 1946 he was commander of the 3rd Military Region (3rd Região Militar) .
