Amber beer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Amber beer , also known as amber , Belgian ale or Spéciale , is a collective term for Belgian beers with a characteristic amber-like color. Amber beers are brewed using top-fermenting yeast , hops , malt , water and occasionally a mixture of herbs ( grut ). In their taste characteristics, which are reminiscent of malt and caramel , they most closely resemble the English pale ales . Influenced by pale ales, Belgian breweries established amber beers in Belgium at the beginning of the 20th century . The most famous of their representatives include Palm , De Koninck and Kwak .
