Palm Breweries is a Belgian brewery . The most important product of the brewery based in Steenhuffel and specializing in Belgian beers is the palm , which is the undisputed market leader among amber beers . In addition, Palm Breweries also produces other specialty beers with Brugge Tripel , Cornet, Steenbrugge , Rodenbach , Boon Geuze and Bockbier . The total production in 2004 was 1,700,000 hl of beer. The brewery was a member of the Belgian Family Brewers until 2016 .

history

The history of Palm can be traced back to 1597 when the acquisition of a farm by the De Hoorn family in Steenhuffel was documented. But beer brewing in Steenhuffel and the De Hoorn and De Valck breweries were not officially mentioned until 1747. After the First World War, the De Hoorn brewery expanded into the Palm brand. The name was chosen because of the identical spelling in Dutch and French and because of its importance as a Christian symbol. From 1929 the Steenhuffeler beer was sold under the name “Speciale Palm” beyond the village limits. 1993 was a joint venture established with Boon, which refers to the continuation of the production of traditional Lambic concentrated beers. In 1998, Palm took over the Rodenbach brewery, a specialist in red beer . After the production of Palm was partially outsourced to Kielce in Poland from 1999 , Palm Breweries acquired a majority stake in the Bruges brewery De Gouden Boom in 2001 . In May 2016, the Palm breweries were taken over by the Dutch Bavaria Group.
