Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award

The Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award (also for short: Walden Award ) is a literary prize with which the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents of the American English teacher's association National Council of Teachers of English honors outstanding works of youth literature every year.

The prize has been awarded since 2009 and commemorates Amelia Elizabeth Walden (1909–2002), who emerged as a pioneer in the promotion of youth literature and as an author of youth books. In addition to American works , works that have previously been published abroad can also be awarded; However, an American edition must also be available.

In addition to the Michael L. Printz Award , the Walden Award is one of the most important youth literature awards in the United States.
