Aminur Rahman Shams-ud Doha

Aminur Rahman Shams-ud Doha (born January 24, 1929 in Murshidabad , British India , today: West Bengal , India ; † March 3, 2012 in Lebanon ) was a diplomat and politician from Bangladesh .

Life

Shams-ud Doha entered the diplomatic service after Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan on March 26, 1971 and was initially ambassador to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and also to the Socialist Republic of Romania between 1972 and 1974 . He was then accredited as Ambassador to Iran and Turkey from 1974 to 1977 , before serving as High Commissioner in the United Kingdom from 1977 to 1982 .

In 1982 Shams-ud Doha succeeded Mohammad Shamsul Huq as foreign minister and held this post in the governments of the presidents A.FM Ahsanuddin Chowdhury and Hossain Mohammad Ershad until 1984, after which Humayun Rasheed Choudhury formally succeeded him in 1985. In 1984 he also held the office of Minister for Irrigation, Water Development and Flood Control for some time.
