Amira Medunjanin (born Dedić * 23. April 1972 in Sarajevo , Yugoslavia , today Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Bosnian - Croatian Sevdalinka - singer .

Career

Medunjanin recorded her first single Mujo đogu po mejdanu voda as a guest singer on Mostar Sevdah Reunion's 2003 album .

In 2005 she recorded her debut album Rosa on Dragi Šestić's record label Snail Records . The album was successful across Europe and was among the nominees for Album of the Year.

In April 2009 she released her live album, which is a recording from her concert at the Jazz Fest Sarajevo in 2008. In March 2010 the studio album Zumra was released, in which arrangements of traditional melodies and accordion music were merged with well thought-out lyrics and sonorous vocals. The album Amulette was released on October 3, 2011 by the French music label Harmonia Mundi .

Her album Silk and Stone was released by Aquarius Records in May 2014 . The album received good reviews from the British media , with The Guardian giving it 4 stars, with Medunjanin's "intimate, tortured and gently convincing voice" being well received.

The album Damar , released in 2016, was voted one of the 40 best in the world for 2017 by Transglobal World Music Chart.
