Amnichad of Fulda

Amnichad von Fulda († January 30, 1043 ) was a Benedictine monk who ended his life in the Fulda monastery as an inclusive . In the Catholic Church he is venerated as a blessed .

Amnichad was born in Ireland . He became a monk and entered a monastery on the island of Celtra in Ireland. Allegedly he had to leave the convent on the orders of the abbot because he gave strange monks visiting the monastery to drink without permission. He traveled to Fulda , where he had himself walled up in the local monastery for asceticism and prayer in the crypt under the chapel of the dead, today's Michael’s Church. He is said to have spent twenty years in this place until his death. He was also honored because various miracles are said to have occurred on his sarcophagus . Amnichad's feast day is January 30th.
