Amor Electro is a four-piece Portuguese band that was founded in 2010 around the singer Marisa Liz after she left Donna Maria .
Career
The group made their first appearance at the Christmas gala of the television station SIC , where they presented their debut single A máquina (acordou) . The album, produced by Tiago Pais Dias , was released in April 2011. It topped the Portuguese sales charts, where it was listed for over 60 weeks.
In September 2011, the band was nominated as Best Portuguese Act for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2012 , which will be held in Frankfurt am Main in November 2012 . In 2013 they were awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA).
style
The band combines elements of electronic and classical pop music with urban Portuguese music, both musically and lyrically and their appearance. The singer in particular often refers to fado . The band seeks to combine Anglo-American pop traditions with Portuguese music traditions.
