Amphitrite was the name of the second Swedish steamship. It was the first paddle steamer in Sweden to operate regularly as a passenger ship.

The English emigrant Samuel Owen had the ship built in the Kungsholmens Mekaniska Werkstad in Stockholm in 1818 . In August 1818, the ship began regular passenger traffic on the Mälaren . Occasionally the Amphitite also operated between Stockholm, Uppsala and Västerås . The following year she drove between Riddarholmen and Drottningholm Palace on the weekends . In 1820 it was replaced by the better motorized Stockholm . In 1821 the Yngve Frey was added as a further passenger ship .

In 1821 the ship ran aground on the voyage to Uppsala near Flottsund. On the next trip on September 30th, the number of passengers on the trip to Uppsala was therefore limited to 100. In 1822 it was replaced by the Upsala and canceled in Kungsholmen
