Amphoe Mueang Phetchaburi ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง เพชรบุรี ) is a district ( Amphoe - Administrative District) of Phetchaburi Province . Phetchaburi Province is located in the southwestern part of the central region of Thailand .
location
Phetchaburi is located about 170 kilometers southwest of the state capital Bangkok in the midst of high mountain ranges about ten kilometers from the confluence of Maenam Phetchaburi in the Gulf of Thailand .
Neighboring districts (clockwise from the northeast): the Amphoe Ban Laem , Khao Yoi , Ban Lat , Tha Yang of Phetchaburi Province, in the southeast lies the Gulf of Thailand .
The main river in the county is the Phetchaburi River.
history
The district was established in 1903. It was initially called "Khlong Krachaeng" because its center was in Tambon Khlong Krachaeng.
