Amphoe Cha-am ( Thai : อำเภอ ชะอำ , pronunciation: [ʔampʰɤː t͡ɕʰáʔam] ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south-eastern part of Phetchaburi Province . Phetchaburi Province is located in the southwestern part of the central region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring districts (clockwise from the south): Amphoe Hua Hin in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan and Tha Yang in the province of Phetchaburi. To the east is the Gulf of Thailand .
There are some nature reserves in the district:
- Khao Nang Phanthurat Forest Reserve ( Forest Park , Thai: วนอุทยาน เขา นาง พันธุ รัต ) - the 2.5 km² forest was established as a reserve on February 25, 1999. There are many caves in the limestone mountains.
- Forest Park Cha-am ( Cha-am Forest Park , Thai: วนอุทยาน ชะอำ ) - near the town of Cha-am, established on March 4, 1992nd
history
The circle was established in 1897 under the name Na Yang. In 1914, the administration building was relocated to Ban Nong Chok (now in Tha Yang ) and the name of the district was changed to Nong Chok. After the Second World War , the government moved the administrative headquarters to Tambon Cha-Am and at the same time changed the name to Cha-Am.

Cha-Am is a well-known vacation spot in Thailand. There are numerous multi-storey hotel buildings on its coast.
traffic
It takes about three hours (176 km) to drive from Bangkok to Cha-am.
The Bangkok - Singapore railway runs through Cha-am. There are Cha-am , Huai Sai Nua and Huai Sai Tai stops .
education
In Cha-Am is the Webster University, the only American university in Thailand, where over 300 international students study. In addition, the largest campus of Stamford International University is in Cha-am.

There is one commune with "city" status ( Thesaban Mueang ) in the district:
- Cha-am (Thai: เทศบาล เมือง ชะอำ ) consisting of the complete tambon Cha-am.
There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:
- Bang Kao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บาง เก่า ) consisting of the complete Tambon Bang Kao.
- Na Yang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา ยาง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Na Yang, Khao Yai, Don Khun Huai.
There are also four " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)
- Nong Sala (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ศาลา ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Sala.
- Huai Sai Nuea (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ห้วย ทราย เหนือ ) consisting of the complete tambon Huai Sai Nuea.
- Rai Mai Phatthana (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไร่ ใหม่ พัฒนา ) consisting of the complete Tambon Rai Mai Phatthana.
- Sam Phraya (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล สามพระยา ) consisting of the complete Tambon Sam Phraya.
