history

The Recklinghausen district in 1845

As part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia , the Recklinghausen office was founded in the Recklinghausen district in 1844 . Initially, the municipalities of Recklinghausen-Land , Herten , Oer and Suderwich belonged to the office. The official seat was in the city of Recklinghausen , which itself did not belong to the office.

Herten was removed from the Recklinghausen office in 1857 and raised to its own office .

The office's population grew from 11,242 to 55,668 between 1895 and 1910.

The Recklinghausen Office was dissolved in 1926 by the law on the reorganization of the municipal boundaries in the Rheinisch-Westfälische industrial district :

  • The municipality of Recklinghausen-Land was divided into Herten, Marl , Oer-Erkenschwick and the city of Recklinghausen.
  • Suderwich was incorporated into the city of Recklinghausen.
  • Oer gave the now densely populated western half of the Sinsen peasantry to Marl; the rest of the community went on in Oer-Erkenschwick, which was assigned to the office dates .
