The district court of Herne-Wanne is a district court that is responsible for the districts of Wanne and Eickel of the city of Herne and is based in Herne-Wanne .

history

After the merging of the offices of Wanne and Eickel to form the Wanne-Eickel district in 1926, the "Law on the Establishment of a District Court in Wanne-Eickel", passed in the Prussian state parliament on July 15, 1930 , decided to establish the Wanne-Eickel District Court began operations on February 1, 1933. In 1952, the new construction of today's courthouse began, which was ready to move into in November 1953. As part of the regional reform in North Rhine-Westphalia , Herne and Wanne-Eickel merged to form the city of Herne on January 1, 1975 and the Wanne-Eickel district court was renamed the Herne-Wanne district court. Since then, two district courts have been operating in the area of the independent city of Herne, the district court of Herne and the district court of Herne-Wanne.

Superior courts

The regional court overriding the court is the Bochum regional court , which in turn is subordinate to the Hamm Higher Regional Court .

Planned dissolution

With the "Third Act amending the Act on the Structure and Districts of the Ordinary Courts and Other Laws", the district court of Herne-Wanne was to be repealed on December 31, 2011 and its area was to be assigned to the district court of Herne, which was to move into a new building. Since the plan to build a justice center in Herne-Mitte was not implemented due to cost reasons, the aforementioned law has been repealed by the “Law amending the Justice Act North Rhine-Westphalia and other laws”. The district court of Herne-Wanne therefore remains in place for the time being.
