District court Lehrte

The district court of Lehrte is one of eight district courts in the district of the district court of Hildesheim . It is based in Lehrte in Lower Saxony .

Responsibilities

The Lehrte District Court is responsible for the cities of Lehrte and Sehnde . The Hildesheim Regional Court is superordinate to the Lehrte District Court. The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court of Celle .

history

The district court of Burgdorf was originally responsible for jurisdiction in the towns of Lehrte and Sehnde since 1852 . Due to the growing population of Lehrte, calls for a local court were loud. In 1948 a permanent branch of the Burgdorf court was set up in Lehrte. On May 1, 1954, Lehrte finally got its own local court. With the construction of the Sehnde correctional facility , the judicial district has had the third largest prison in the country since 2004.

The court days before the founding of the Lehrter District Court initially took place in a hall of the Behresche restaurant and later in the city administration. After the Second World War , one wing of the Kreissparkasse building was used. In 1968 a new building was built in the Schlesische Strasse in the Lehrter Center, which still houses the district court today. In Burgdorfer Straße an extension was also established.
