history

Alfeld town hall - seat of the local court from 1852 to 1900

With the Hanoverian Courts Constitution Act of November 8, 1850, which came into force on October 1, 1852 , the Alfeld District Court was founded. From 1852 the court initially had two judges. Due to the great distance to Alfeld, external court days were held regularly in the Lamspringe office. In 1897, planning began for a courthouse on Kalandstrasse . In 1900 the building was occupied. Previously, the district court was housed in the Alfeld town hall. The construction plans for the district court building disappeared during World War II and did not reappear until 1975 in the attic of the Hildesheim public prosecutor's office. For the 125th anniversary, the valuable plans were returned to the district court.
