Hermannsburg District Bailiwick

The Hermannsburg District Bailiwick was a historical judicial and administrative district of the Principality of Lüneburg and the Kingdom of Hanover .

history

Hermannsburg had been the center of a judicial district for the parishes of Hermannsburg and Müden (Örtze) since the 15th century , the gogrefen of which were under the supervision of the Celle grand bailiffs until 1772 . Official bailiffs have been documented since the 16th century. Because of its minor importance, the administration of the district bailiff was temporarily transferred to the neighboring district bailiff in Bergen in 1795 . After a fire in the official building in Hermannsburg, this regulation became final in 1802. Efforts by the Hermannsburg residents to get their own magistrate again were in vain. In the course of the administrative and judicial reform of 1852, the two administrative bailiffs were merged to form the Bergen office .
