Amulance is an American thrash , power and speed metal band from Aurora , Illinois , which was founded in 1984, disbanded in 1990 and has been active again since 2007.

history

The band was formed in 1984 and consisted of guitarist Bob Luman, bassist Thom Braddish, drummer Eric Wedow and singer Rik Baez. After the second guitarist Vince Varriale came to the band in January 1986, the demo The Rage Within , which included six songs, followed in 1987. As a result, the band won a contract with New Renaissance Records , which in 1988 released the debut album Feel the Pain . Since Eric Wedow could not participate in the following tours, he left the band that same year. After nine months, Tony Divozzo joined the band as the new drummer. Divozzo was involved in the recordings for The Aftermath , which was not to be released because the band split up in early 1990. Divozzo was later to join Darklin Reach .

In 2007 the demo The Rage Within was re- released as part of the compilation The Rage Within: And the Aftermath via Stormspell Records , which also included the recordings for The Aftermath . It also included two live videos that were recorded between 1988 and 1989. For the release of the record, the band got together again, which was followed by appearances overseas in 2008 . A month before these concerts Divozzo got out of the band, which Varriale followed shortly thereafter. In 2009 the drummer Ed Foltz and the guitarist Pat Cassidy joined the band for an appearance at the Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany in 2010. In addition, the band worked on a new album, from which only the EP Germany was created due to lack of time . The band had previously signed a contract with Stormspell Records (including Immaculate , Invection and Space Eater ) for the release of the EP . After performing in Germany in 2010, the band returned to the US and paused before the band reunited in 2013, with Chuck Hamilton joining the band as the new bass player.

style

According to thethrashmetalguide.com , the band combines speed, thrash and power metal and is therefore comparable to the early Overkill and Helstar . The band often mixes all styles in one song, with the proportion of each style varying. The singing is comparable to that of Kai Hansen or Iron Angels Dirk Schröder.
