Invection is an American thrash metal band from Oakland , California that was formed in 2007.

history

The band formed in the early summer of 2007 and consisted of four high school friends. The group began with the rehearsals, which initially took place alternately in the garages of the respective members. A little later she moved the rehearsals to the Soundwave Studios in West Oakland , which they shared with the band Antagony. The guitarist and singer positions changed several times, after which the cast consisted of five members: the singer Nick Hooshmand, the guitarists Rory and Andrew Kubiak, the bassist Andy Lindquist and the drummer John Haag. Then the EP World Plague was released , which was recorded in the Colorblind Studios in Concord . The EP was distributed to shows and mailed to interested people. In the summer of 2008, Rory left the cast. Since a studio was already booked for September, the group of four recorded the demo Incarcerate , which contains two songs. One song had been written a long time ago while the other was new. Shortly after the recordings, Jeremy Power came in to replace Rory. Further concerts followed at the end of 2008. In early December, Lindquist got out, whereupon Powers friend Joe Esteban played bass. After further rehearsals and concerts, the group separated from their singer Nick Hooshmand in late 2008 / early 2009, whereupon Kubiak also took over the vocals. Shortly before the recording of the next EP, Jeremy Power left the group to devote himself to other musical interests. Then the EP Demented Perception was recorded in Sharkbite Studios in Oakland. The sound carrier contains six songs, with Alex Winkley, a friend of the band, helping out on the electric guitar in the songs Two Faced Lie and Invection . Shortly after the recordings, Joe Esteban also decided to leave the band. Through the release, the band was able to increase their fame significantly, while Drew Gage joined as guitarist and bassist Andy Lindquist decided to return to the band. Through the EP Stormspell Records became aware of the band, which Demented Perception was re-released. In December the EP Derealization was recorded, which contains four songs, which the band was able to increase their popularity. In the summer of 2010, Invection began work on their debut album. The album was recorded in August within three weeks at Studio SQ and Panda Studios . The album was released in 2011 under the name Facet of Aberration on Stormspell Records, which previously u. a. had already released albums by Amulance , Immaculate and Space Eater .

style

Scott Alisoglu from Blabbermouth.net wrote in his review of Facet of Aberration that you can hear Thrash Metal on it, which is strongly oriented towards the old-school representatives. On the album, the group is now more compact and catchy than before, while the songs are better structured. The group often reminded of Slayer or Demiricous , whereby the group used gangshouts and also used shouts that would remind of Tom Araya . Manos Xanthakis from metal-temple.com stated in his review of the album that the band plays aggressive, energetic and fast thrash metal. It is mainly based on the European and the San Francisco Bay Area representatives of the 1980s. In particular, these are about Exodus , Megadeth , early Metallica and Kreator . Xanthakis also emphasized that Kubiak's vocals are very similar to those of Tom Araya, especially those of the Slayer albums Divine Intervention and Undisputed Attitude . Due to the great similarity, the singing lacks originality and character. Overall, the release is comparable to the Slayer albums Hell Awaits and Reign in Blood or Handle with Care and Game Over by Nuclear Assault . Drumming is characterized by speed and groove .
