Amy Mazur

Amy Gale Mazur (born May 5, 1962 ) is an American political scientist and professor of political science at Washington State University and an associate researcher at the Center d'Etudes Européennes at Sciences Po in Paris.

Life

Mazur attended the Université de Caen in France from 1982 to 1983. In 1984 she received a Bachelor of Arts from Colby College. From 1986 to 1987 she worked at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques de Paris on her thesis. At New York University, she received a Master of Arts degree in 1986 and a PhD in Philosophy in Politics and French in 1992 . In autumn 2001 she was Professor for International Feminist Studies at the Ruhr University Bochum . From 2005 to 2006 she was the United Nations Expert on Equal Participation of Men and Women in Decision-Making Processes and Rapporteur for the Final Report. Mazur has also received research requests from the European Union , the World Bank , the International Labor Organization and the Obama administration . She has received research grants from the National Science Foundation , the European Science Foundation , the French Ministry of Social Affairs and the Norwegian National Science Organization. In 2009 she attended the Institute for Advanced Study and the University of Warwick . From 2006 to 2014 she was co-editor with Cornell Clayton of the Political Research Quarterly . In 2015 she was a member of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities .

Mazur's research focus is on comparative feminist politics, women's political agencies / state feminism, implementation and conceptualization of feminist politics and French politics. She is the representative of the Gender Equality Policy in Practice Network (GEPP) and co-editor of the magazine for French politics. She is also one of the founders of the Research Network on Gender Politics and the State (RNGS).
