Amza Pellea

Amza Pellea (born April 7, 1931 in Băileşti , Dolj district , † December 12, 1983 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian film and theater actor .

Life

Pellea completed an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer and worked in industrial companies, after which he attended the Bucharest Theater and Film School until 1952 . From 1956 he had an engagement at the Craiova Theater and from 1961 to 1973 he was employed at the Bucharest Comedy Theater, whose director he became in 1973 for a year. From 1973 to 1983 he taught at the Bucharest Theater School (IATC).

Pellea made his film debut in 1954, but his film career did not begin until the 1960s. He often worked with the director Sergiu Nicolaescu . The title roles he played in his feature films Mihai Viteazul (1970), Ultimul cartuş (1973), Revanşa (1978) and Omul de aur (1978) made him very popular. In German film he appeared in the DEFA productions Ulzana (1974), Das Licht auf dem Galgen (1976) and Das Ding im Schloß (1979) as well as the Romanian-German co-productions Das Verschollene Inka-Gold (1978) and Killemy, der singende Dog (1979).

At the Moscow International Film Festival in 1977 he received the Actor Award for his participation in Nicolaescus Osânda . Pellea is co-author of the 1979 film Nea Mărin, miliardar .
