An Cat Dubh is an Irish folk and folk rock band from Darmstadt . The band has been playing their own and other songs since 1992. The band name An Cat Dubh is Gaelic (pronounced: Ann Kat Daff) and means "The Black Cat". The band is characterized by its musical openness and versatility. She uses different stylistic elements in melodic rock songs. An Cat Dubh performs in pubs and clubs at home and abroad; this includes several appearances in Edinburgh and Aberdeen as part of a Scotland tour as well as several appearances in France and Great Britain .

In 2017, for the 25th anniversary, the last studio CD to date was released . The album What the Folk was released on December 9, 2017 at the Goldenen Krone in Darmstadt . Most of the pieces on the album are my own compositions.

In addition to traditional pieces, the repertoire of the five musicians includes numerous original compositions and interpretations, a mixture of catchy rock elements and influences from Ireland and Scotland .
