content

A Syrian poet and an Italian journalist help five Syrian and Palestinian refugees who, after arriving in Lampedusa, want to get from Milan to Stockholm without being arrested by the authorities. You decide to fake a wedding because "nobody (...) would control a wedding procession". So they set off with the help of a young Syrian woman who has a German passport. During the four-day trip through France, Luxembourg, Germany and Denmark, the protagonists tell their stories and dreams in the hope of a future without wars and borders.

production

After the completion of the shooting, the filmmakers launched a crowdfunding campaign through the Indiegogo website on May 18, 2014 to finance the post-production and complete it by July 16, 2014. The aim was to submit the film as a candidate for the Venice International Film Festival in 2014 and to bring it to distribution in October 2014.

A week before the expiration date, the required € 75,000 had already accumulated, on July 16 the campaign had collected € 98,151.

Charisma

The first trailer aired on May 18 to promote the crowdfunding campaign, while the official one was released on August 28, 2014.

The film preview ran on September 4, 2014 during the 71ª Mostra internazionale d'arte cinematografica di Venezia in the “Horizons” category, but did not take part in the competition. The film has been shown in Italian cinemas since October 9, 2014.

In Germany, the film can be seen in six cities in May 2015 as part of an event tour organized by the German-Syrian initiative Adopt a Revolution in cooperation with Pro Asyl .

reception

The film was a success in the cinemas and grossed € 2,356 in the first week. At the end of the month it had reached the sum of € 230,000, which enabled the filmmakers to show their work not only in the originally planned 24 cinemas, but also at 18 other venues.
