The two houses at Vikarie 1 and 2 are located in Nörvenich in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia . They are both listed .

The two house plots at Vikarie 1 and 2 originally formed a single plot, as can be seen from the old cadastral map. The area was built on with a four-sided closed house and courtyard, which was inhabited and managed by the vicar of the cross altar . In addition to his spiritual activities, he was also a "school vicar". The cross altar and property with the associated land and other income had been donated centuries ago by the Gymnich knight Arnold Scharppeil. The vicar gave the village children school lessons in his house for a fee. It can no longer be determined today whether he was obliged to do so because of the foundation .

The old vicariate buildings were demolished in 1829. The vicar no longer needed the farm buildings. A new vicarie was built with an apartment for the vicar and a classroom.

At the Vicarie No. 1

The new vicar's school had a large classroom and an apartment for the vicar. It was built by the carpenter Peter Joseph Schmitz from Nörvenich and was ready to move into in 1833. For his work he received 1,057 Reichstaler from the municipal treasury , which was raised through the sale of land, tax contributions and 200 Talers from the vicarage budget. The school was in use until 1940. Finally, the first four years of school were taught simultaneously by a teacher in the single classroom .

It was not until the second half of the 19th century that the school was taken over by the Nörvenich community after very difficult negotiations between the archbishop's general vicariate , the district president and the district administrator. The building was entered on the list of monuments in the 1980s and privately owned in 1987.

The house was entered on March 20, 1985 in the monument list of the municipality of Nörvenich under No. 48.

At Vicarie No. 2

In 1852 the house at Vikarie No. 2 was built, which now became the vicar's apartment. The house has served as a vicarie until our time. Most recently, the retired pastor Johann Plum lived here, who worked as a subsidiary in the parish from 1946 to 1961 . The house has been privately owned since 1975.

The house was entered on March 20, 1985 in the monument list of the municipality of Nörvenich under No. 49.
