Location of An der Weide in Wuppertal

At the pasture was a locality in the north of today's residential area Arrenberg of the Bergisch city of Wuppertal , district of Elberfeld . The name An der Weide no longer exists as an independent name for this location.

Location and description

The location was at an altitude of 146  m above sea level. NN in the former Wupperaue between the site of the current Wuppertal-Elberfeld thermal power station and the neighboring Düsseldorf-Elberfeld railway line .

history

The location arose from a farm that is recorded as adWeidt on the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715. In 1815/16 the place had six residents.

In 1832 An der Weide belonged to the Pickartsberger Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . The place, which was categorized as Ackerhof according to the statistics and topography of the administrative district of Düsseldorf , was designated as an der Weiden and at that time had a residential house and two agricultural buildings. At that time 5 people lived in the place, all of them Protestant faith.

Until the middle of the 19th century, the courtyard stood apart from urban development, which changed with the construction of the railway line in the 1840s. The then equally free-standing Vogelsaue was adjacent on the other side of the Wuppertal. With the multi-track extension of the railway line, the construction of Simonstraße and the construction of the depot for the Elberfeld horse-drawn railway at the end of the 19th century, An der Weide was lost as an independent village. The last free areas were built on in 1900 with the thermal power station.
