etymology

The name Vogelsaue refers to a floodplain , a meadow area on the Wupper . In particular, Vogelsaue goes back to the possession of the Vogel family.

history

The old place name was first mentioned in 1646. The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715 records the location as a Vogelsau farm . In 1815/16 the place had 30 inhabitants.

In 1832 Vogelsaue belonged to the Pickartsberger Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . The location, which was categorized as a tavern according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , was designated as on the Vogelsaue and at that time had five residential buildings and five agricultural buildings. At that time, 29 residents lived in the place, two Catholic and 27 Protestant.

The location is also noted on the topographical record of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first record from 1843, which can be found in the address book from 1850 onwards. From 1866 chemical factories were built at the west end, at the latest from 1892/94 (according to a map) also in this location, historical building fabric is no longer available.

Today's street

The street Vogelsaue is named after this location . The Vogelsaue connecting road now runs from Friedrich-Ebert-Straße to Nützenberger Straße. It was named Vogelsauer Strasse on November 7, 1873, and was slightly renamed to Vogelsaue in 1935.
