Ana Dimke

Ana Dimke (born February 21, 1967 in Hanover ) is a German art theorist and university lecturer. From 2011–2016 she was rector of the Leipzig University of Art and Graphics .

Life

After studying art, German and philosophy at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig and the Technical University of Braunschweig , she received a DFG scholarship in the graduate college "Aesthetic Education" at the University of Hamburg , and worked as a research assistant at the institute "Didactics of the Visual Arts Art ”at the University of Hamburg and teaching assignments at the Hamburg University of Art and Design and the Kassel Academy of Art .

In 2000 Dimke received his doctorate at the HBK Braunschweig on Duchamp's theory of the artist as a reading on the mediation of art.

In 2002 Ana Dimke was appointed to the junior professorship for “Art and its Didactics” at the Bauhaus University Weimar . In 2006 she accepted the call to professor for "Didactics of Fine Arts" at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 2007 to 2011 she was Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UdK Berlin. In 2011 she became rector of the Leipzig University of Graphics and Book Art and was on leave from the UdK for the duration of this activity. In May 2012 Ana Dimke was elected spokeswoman for the Rectors' Conference of the German art academies. For personal reasons, she resigned from the office of Leipzig University Rector on April 1, 2016.

As a scientist, she publishes on the fine arts, its theory and communication, in particular on Marcel Duchamp .
