Ana Fernandes

Ana Rocha Fernandes (* 1971 in Santiago , Cape Verde , West Africa ) is a Cape Verdean film editor , film director , screenwriter , dramaturge and production designer .

Life

She worked as a teacher in Cape Verde before studying architecture at the University of Siegen and at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy .

Since 1998 she has mainly made documentaries. For the documentary Rabelados - the nonviolent rebels of the Cape Verde Islands , released in 2000 , she received a prize at the Locarno International Film Festival . For the short film Das Rauschen des Meeres (The Rush of the Sea) , she and Torsten Truscheit were shortlisted for nominations for Best Short Film from a total of 107 applications in the Live Action Shorts category (non-animated short films) . It also won the Baden-Württemberg Film Prize in the Best Short Film category.

Ana Rocha Fernandes lives in Stuttgart.
