action

A refugee from Africa has been in a deportation prison for several days without papers or any other proof of his identity. When it is suspected that the inmate could possibly kill himself, a guard is assigned to look after him. He discovers a photo hidden by the prisoner, which shows a little girl. As a result, the guard begins to be interested in the prisoner's fate, and a friendship begins to develop between the two.

Due to the loneliness that the prisoner has to endure in the cell, he begins to tell the guard assigned to him, his story and the reason why he entered Germany illegally. The guard learns that the inmate has lost a loved one. In the story told by the prisoner, the guard recognizes parallels to his own life, because he, too, has already lost a loved one. So the two get closer and closer.

In the further course of the plot, the prison guard risks his employment to help the inmate to escape from the deportation prison and to help ensure that he can see his daughter, the girl in the photo, again.
