Maximilian "Max" Zähle (born September 1, 1977 in Hanover ) is a German film director .

Life

Max Zähle grew up in Celle as the son of qualified engineer Hans Henning Zähle and primary school teacher Siegrid Zähle. Max has two siblings, Katharina and Sebastian Zähle. After graduating from the Ernestinum Celle in 1997 , he moved to Hamburg in 1998 to do an internship at a film production company.

From 1999 to 2003 he was a freelance video operator , manager and assistant director on various film sets , intervening even in a post-production in the average active and began short films to stage. At the same time he studied at the Hanseatic Academy for Marketing and Media (HAMM) "Communication of audio and visual media" with a degree in communications management in 2002. He then passed an exam to become a film and video editor at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

From 2004 he was a freelance editor and director for various advertising film and music video productions. From 2008 to 2010 he completed a postgraduate course to become a film director with a master’s degree at the Hamburg Media School . In 2010 he stayed in Calcutta for several months to shoot the film Raju . With this he achieved his greatest successes to date: in 2011 the student Oscar in bronze and in 2012 the Oscar nomination in the category Best Non-Animated Short Film (Short Film - Live Action).

In October 2012, Zähle was a member of the jury for the Montblanc Screenplay Award at the Hamburg Film Festival . Since autumn 2012 he has shot several episodes of the television series Großstadtrevier .

Count is married to the director Johanna Pfaff , the daughter of the actor and director Dieter Pfaff . He lives in Hamburg-Altona .
