Anatole Le Braz
Anatole Le Braz , ( bourgeois Anatole Le Bras , Breton Anatol ar Braz , born April 2, 1859 in Saint-Servais , Département Côtes-d'Armor , France , † March 20, 1926 in Menton ) was a Breton writer and fairy tale collector.
Le Braz was born to Breton-speaking parents. He attended school in Saint-Brieuc and later studied at the Sorbonne . Then he returned to Brittany and worked there as a teacher. It also collected folk songs, fairy tales and legends among his Breton compatriots. To this end, he interviewed farmers and seafarers in the region.
In 1898 he was elected chairman of the Union régionaliste bretonne , an early regionalist Breton party with a conservative orientation.
