Anatolijus Novikovas

Anatolijus Novikovas ( Russian Анатолий Новиков , scientific transliteration Anatolij Novikov ; * 1966 ) is a Lithuanian lawyer and chess player of Russian origin.

Life

Novikovas comes from Lower Lithuania . He studied at the A. Jonynas School boarding school for the blind and partially sighted in Vilnius . After graduating from the Antanas Jonynas Middle School in Vilnius in 1986, he wanted to become a chess coach and study at the Kūno kultūros institutas in Kaunas . At that time the Lithuanian students were prepared as chess trainers in Minsk ( Belarus ). From 1988 he studied at the preparatory department of the law faculty of the Vilniaus universitetas . In spring 1989, however, he failed the final exams and was therefore not allowed to enroll as a student. In the fall of 1989 he passed the faculty entrance exams and became a law student. During his studies he got the scholarship. In the fourth year of his studies he worked as a lawyer in the LASS Center Council and in the fifth year (from 1993 to 1994) as a senior specialist in the Department of Disabled People's Affairs at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lithuania . Later he worked again in the council of the LASS center, as a consultant at the employment office of the municipality of Vilnius and in the office for advice on labor market education. In the fifth year of his studies he read lectures for financiers and administrators in the companies UAB "Sistema" and UAB "Profesinio mokymo ir menedžmento institutas". In 1994 he completed his law degree . After obtaining his legal license in 1996, he worked as a consulting lawyer in his private legal practice. In 1999 he passed the exams and has since worked as a lawyer in his own law firm in Naujamiestis .

Novikovas has been playing chess since he was 10 years old. From 1986 to 1987 he worked as a chess teacher in Klaipėda . In 1993 Novikovas finished 3rd in the Lithuanian individual championship. In 2000 he was appointed International Correspondence Chess Master. His current Elo (FIDE) is 1,817 (in 2015). His highest rating was 1980 (July 2000). His highest rating (ICCF) was 2,487 (in 2000).
